Better Tools, Better Innovations, Better Healthcare by ‘Hybrid Bio-Nano Devices’
The path for a rapid transformation of ‘creativity-to-inventions-to-innovations’ is more art than science. The greatest advances of dense processors in the electronics industry had attained remarkable commercial success. However, similar advances in biological and health sciences have been modest. Our major interest is to pursue basic and applied research together across multiple disciplines by design, development and optimization of ‘Hybrid Bio-Nano devices’ for integrated advances in two major research areas, bioengineering and biosensing.
In the bioengineering field, the integration of ‘Nano-Bio devices’ enables spatiotemporal control for large-scale parallel experimentation and can thus permit new capabilities for ‘dizitizing’ directed molecular-evolution and so thus creating engineered biomolecules. In the biosensing field, the integration of ‘Bio-Nano devices’ and electrochemical transduction enables to quantify biological or chemical information through an easily processed electronic signal and can thus develop more realistic (portable, low-cost and mass-producible) biosensors for clinical diagnostics, environmental monitoring and point-of-care testing.
